Graduation Absurdities

In an effort to ridicule us for one last time, WashU is making Master's students wear frilly velvet gowns that look like "Star Trek Uniforms" according to James, and caps that look like this:

Christopher Columbus Receiving an Honorary Degree from WashU

If we want to keep these delightful fashion statements, we just have to not drop them off on Friday afternoon and our credit cards will be billed for about $500. Sounds like a plan to me.

I have plenty of "credit cards" you can use if you want to keep your gown. They come in the mail all the time.

Unfortunately I already gave them my credit card info back in February to reserve this stuff. Alas...

You could always cancel the card. What will they do? Put something on your permanent record? Or better yet, just turn back in some substitute, fake hat that you steal from an artsci student.

Hey, it's what I found in my bag when I opened it ...say it with me...
